The Gift Whisperer grew from Kelly's own experience of recognising the need to slow things down a little — to make more space for creativity, connection and the small moments that can so easily disappear in the rush of everyday life.

With a background in teaching, experience selling gifts online and a lifelong curiosity for learning new skills and crafts, those different threads gradually came together to shape The Gift Whisperer as it is today.

​

Kelly is behind the ideas, product development and creative direction of the brand, usually beginning with a feeling or a moment rather than a product: What might help someone here? How could we create a reason to pause, connect, make or simply enjoy some time for themselves?

​

Never too far away are Betsy and Honey, Kelly's constant companions and a big part of life behind The Gift Whisperer. Their very different personalities have inspired ideas of their own — and they can generally be relied upon to keep an eye on proceedings while new rituals take shape.

​

There is always something new being explored, learned or made — and usually one final question before anything is finished:

Could we make it just a little more thoughtful?

Jade is the person who helps turn “I've had an idea…” into something we can actually make.

​

Working closely with our makers and manufacturing partners, she helps source materials, develop products and navigate the many samples, measurements, finishes and tiny decisions that sit behind every finished ritual.

​

Alongside her is Cookie — always dressed to impress and never far away when companionship or moral support is required. When he’s off duty, you’ll usually find him playing with his friends at doggie day care.

​

We have a feeling his Gift Whisperer responsibilities may grow in the future.

​

Jade, meanwhile, is patiently accustomed to messages beginning with “just one little tweak…”

Debbie brings a handmade touch to The Gift Whisperer, creating some of the beautiful details that make our rituals feel particularly special.

​

With patience, skill and a remarkable tolerance for repetitive tiny things, her work adds something that simply can't be replicated by a production line.

​

Never too far away is Aiko, her much-loved black cat and devoted companion. He adores his mum so much that he'll even join her for walks across the fields — when he isn't busy enjoying the catnip plants in the garden or finding a sunny spot for a good roll around.

​

And with Debbie's work often involving yarn, we suspect Aiko may yet discover his own particular role at The Gift Whisperer.

Betsy and Honey couldn't be more different in personality, but they have a very special bond.

​

Betsy is the loving nanny of the family — gentle, watchful and happiest when she knows where everyone is and that all is well. When Honey first arrived, Betsy took her under her wing, looking after her as she grew and patiently showing her how things worked.

​

Honey, on the other hand, approaches life rather more enthusiastically. Fun-loving, fearless and decidedly gung-ho, she's happiest running at full speed in pursuit of her ball — preferably with everyone else joining in.

​

They may not be sisters by birth, but they're certainly sisters at heart. Betsy helped Honey find her feet in the world, and the two have grown into the most loving of companions.

​

Their personalities have become part of The Gift Whisperer too, inspiring some of our most familiar pieces and lending the occasional Betsy Approved or Honey Approved seal of approval.

Together, they remind us that care can look very different — sometimes it's quietly showing someone the way, and sometimes it's racing towards life at full speed.
